Why not simply buy the operators with real money? That'd achieve the exact same thing.

This ^ The price comes out about the same from what I've read in other threads.

You can redeem a standard edition CD-key on Uplay (EDIT: or actually buy it out there). It worked for me.

But then you have two versions of the game, correct? Standard and Starter.

There were several blue posts during the starter edition sales period where devs plainly said there was no direct upgrade path. Perhaps they changed that silently.

Bought Starter Edition

Spent now over 270 hours and unlocked all basic operators (not castle, or at least not yet)

Best 15$ I spent

its not $15 plus $30 and $35 for R6 points to get all ops thats $80 bucks man. regardless i want normal renown drops.

Well you got what you paid for: You bought an edition that's cheaper but where you have to grind more for your operators. 15+30=$45 is pretty much what people paid for the full game.

Correct. But a game thinks it's standard either way. I run it from Steam and it's standard even though it should be starter. Not sure if it's a bug (wouldn't be surprised) and they'll fix it soon enough or they try to silently bypass some steam restrictions for devs (because some DLCs still can be purchased through Uplay for me)? Dunno.

There probably is only one version of the game, it's just that your online account is the one that's considered "starter", and thus when you connect to their servers it fetches the starter edition prices for the operators without any changes to the game itself.

That would by my assumption as well. There's just a flag on your version where IsStarterVersion == true or something.

The odd thing is Noris said he had both starter and standard on his account. I didn't realize that was possible. A while back people had to create seperate accounts for the two versions because uPlay wouldn't let you associate both on the same account.

In the end I'm more curious than anything.

If you buy a certain r6 credit pack it costs less than buying standard and you can insta-unlock all ops besides dlc.

Where's the first $30 coming from? It should just be $15 plus $35 which equals the price of standard.

No its not what i paid for. i paid to upgrade later in the future but the fact they dont have system that supports that is stupid. $15+$30+$35=$80 that full game price plus season pass and i still dont get my renown fixed.

It is. One is steam version and the other one is uplay version. Uplay shows them seperately in the library. It's possible to have almost all of their games doubled that way. And I guess ONLY that way.

It takes really a lot, but that's what you got by buying the starter edition, it was written on the store page. Anyway you don't really need to unlock every operator, just stick with your preferred ones and you will grind enough renown eventually. Completing challenges and buying discounted operators helps.
