Hey, UbiMorning; good to see you again! (Not sarcasm, you seem chill lol) Anyway, I think at the very least that there should be a server for central Russia and another for Asia Minor (i.e. Middle East through India). I get that servers are expensive to buy and all the logistics, but yeah...one of my Russian friends who lives in the Urals struggles with 100+ ping when we play on EU servers (regardless of west or north). And I don't think the modern Russian government is like the Soviet government was; I think they might charge a premium for land ownership/rental, but I don't think that they would wire mics into the walls and listen for anyone talking ♥♥♥♥ before declaring them an enemy to the state and making them "disappear" or anything like that lmao.
Besides that Russia is a lot more lenient than the USSR once was, it seems that a lot of Russians aren't anti-Western at all. (Maybe that's due to there being less censorship etc.? Who knows.) Like, there is obviously a lot of ♥♥♥♥-talk from Putin and co. about Western governments as well as current events, but I don't think that the average Russian person has such a burning hatred of the West. From every Russian I've met, it seems they really like America.
...But I digress. I definitely understand that there would without a doubt be problems creating servers for Asia Minor because a lot of the countries that are in the approximate center of that region have been war-torn and thus extremely unstable over the past century. There are of course plenty of people who like America and other Western countries who are from that region, but there are also a lot who have such a grudge against the West that they do unspeakable acts at the slightest hint that a person may be from Europe/America or even have an ancestor from there. I'm not stereotyping, either. My father served in Enduring Freedom in Kyrgysztan and Iraqi Freedom later on (as well as both Desert Storm and Shield), and he's told me about all sorts of things that happened. He's also said that he's seen things that put him back in the war zone when he recalls them.
And not just my dad tells me stuff like this, either; I hear this from vets all the time.
