Montagne Shield?
I’m looking to do a project and making Monty’s (Montagne’s) shield and was wondering if anybody had a video or description of how it works?

On how it works: Most likely springs are used to push certain shield parts, after releasing locks. Once pushed to a certain position some parts latch into locks, again. Using a 2nd mechanism to open up the locks.

On the second part: getting the shield back into the "small" version: maybe make it an physical act: after unlocking the 2nd mechanism, you can now push the top part with one hand to "close" the shield.

Using gears you can link multiply parts together.

So actually it would look like that:

Extended shield -> push top part down -> store kinetic energy in springs -> have your shield "latch" once you fully minimized it (like pushing an layer into the other and have an lock like mechanic stop it getting pushed up again) -> use an button to unlock the mechanism and extend the shield that way

Or it could just as well be all manual, with locks for holding it retracted/extended. Maybe some springs to make it a bit easier to push and pull.

yeah, could be, depends on budget and actual skill, also depends if you got certain limits. It becoming too heavy and unpractical is another issue, especially if you want to create an cosplay.

well for starters, i'd do it in all plastic, for weight reasons. Then you can mimic the mechanisms used on umbrellas where they have a spring loaded button that acts as the piece that keeps the shield both in the extended position and retracted as well.

theres a lever for the shield hence why he holds it with two handles
