1080 Ti coil whine
I have a 4 months old 1080 Ti Founders Edition and in Siege (and some other games) I've started to get really loud coil whining. As soon as the game hits the "Important Information before playing" screen I get around 800 FPS and loud coil whine which dips to 200-300 in the main menu with even louder coil whine.

The coil whining often stops when I get into a round but comes back as soon as I hit the main menu. I've spent a while playing with the settings and also tried enabling v-sync (which did nothing but give the game mega-screen tearing). I emailed MSI support and asked if there is anything they suggested but all they could suggest was to try a new PSU - which I don't have a spare one - or to contact the supplier and get a replacement.

Has anybody else had this same issue and managed to fix it or is it legitimatly a broken card?

I have a coil whine on my 1070 (ASUS ROG Strix). Mostly can be heard on the main menu screen but can be heard when playing too, if there's a strong usage on the GPU. But I don't know what's going on now, ever since I got a new gaming monitor.

Coil whine can come either from GPU or PSU. It's totally normal to experience coilwhine expecially on main menus, or loading where framerate is uncaped. Coil whine can be just GPU defect or just materials and isulations used on unit. Some ppl dont mind it, some people think their cards are broken or refund the cards and hoping to recive better unit with less coil whine. I never experienced PSU coilwhine though, cause i've only used Seasonic, best brand if you'r going for the quality. Never cheap out on PSU, it's your PC's lifeline.

1.In short, you have coil whine in main menus, cause game is running extremly high framerate.
2. Open up the case, and listen, mabey it's your PSU making noise instead of card.

You are my new favourite person, I was under the impression Coil Whine was a GPU thing only. It's hard to tell but it does sound like it could be the PSU.

Before I bought the card I checked my current build on pc part picker and figured out at max power usage my PSU could still hold support it but it would be close to max capacity. I have a Corsair GS800 which is about 5-6 years old now so I guess it's time make the leap.

I've never heard of Seasonic but will have a look and check them out. Thanks =)

Yeah... if it's not the GPU then it's the PSU. I'm not familiar with that Corsair series of PSUs myself, but stating that yours is pretty old then the PSU is the factor of the coil whine.

I have the Zalman TX-700 which is a piece a ♥♥♥♥, four months old since I've built my new PC and I think it's the PSU that makes the coil whine in my PC; that a high-end card like the 1070 can't handle it or something. So I should be replacing with a cheaper-reliable Corsair PSU I found good enough for the price.

Seasonic is a god of PSU production. Some corsair units are actualy rebranded seasonic's. Seasonic is tier 1 brand, thats a fact, They are quit expensive though. Since i know alot about electrical engineering, and i've opened up many power supplys from many manufacturers. Seasonic screams quality, a good PSU will last you ages. Can't say anything bad for corsair though. Some cheaper units can be fishy though, but it wont destroy your pc though, like Zalman ^^. If you'r buying seasonic, the bronze variant is totally fine, but if you have money to spare go for gold, higher in that is kinda waste of money. Unless you'r PC elitist ^^

I wish more people know, how important good quality PSU actually is, on pefromance wise, and everything else.

Well said! I would actually like to check up on some ratings if you can provide any site, please.

My older brother owns a 620W, Fully Modular, Bronze Certificate from Seasonic, and if I was able I would've snatched his, because he said his PSU "for some reason/s" isn't the best - nonsense. So I wished I had his PSU instead. I might as well search in local stores and see if I can find the exact same model or maybe a differnt model but with higher efficiency rate.

Dosent matter both gold and bronze are same good quality from seasonic, buying GOLD just saves you enough money in couple of months, to buy a cup of coffe, thats it ^^. But once again, if you have money, go for gold. So at least you can show off, you have a beast in your case.

Gotcha! Well, I'll go on and look for the perfect replacement for my crappy PSU...
