Why no diversity in SAS?

As a white British person, it feels a bit weird that our SAS operators are 4 average height white guys. Ok Mute is unclear, but based on their names and accents, they all seem like London 'lads' from a Guy Ritchie movie. No women, no ethnic minorities. :(

And they've probably gone too far with women now in terms of realism, as i imagine women are a minority or actually banned from most special ops. It was just an observation.

for those of you who actually care about the diversity and is apalled as to why people hate talking about it.

the "we want more diversity" topic is disliked by many gamers because theres this...certain kind of people who do nothing but talk and demand diversity and representation, disliking and hating something purely because they lack representation. even when players who are minorities have no problem relating to certain characters, not for a character's skin colour or gender, but for the characters personalities and traits.

so these people can sometimes band together to protest to the devs, and their actions have side effects, causing PR problems, making the devs look racist or sexist, generally giving the game a bad rep in the eyes of commoners. so to avoid the bad pr devs are forced to conform.

usually when someone protests, devs would just cave in and add one, or if they wanna play extra safe, they just preemptively add one to avoid the protests, usually in both situations these characters dont have much thought put into them and they're just there because they're minorities, and it pleases these people, make them feel like they're heroes because they just "helped people get representation".

the thing is, adding minorities just because they're minorities is bad, those characters are called tokens, and token characters are disliked by everyone for their lack of charm or personality, and games with terrible characters dont get remembered or sold as much. (so basically tokens are bad for the industry, not just gaming, ANY industry)

and so, thats why this thread is gettin a lot of flak.

so if your care is genuine,my advice is dont worry about it, let the devs do their magic, if theres a cool new character then hey, theres a cool new chracter, if not, then dont fret, its fine, no gamer will feel like crud just because theres little to no characters maching said gamer's skin tone or gender.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not. Its simple English. I can't stress enough how much of a non issue this all is. If you or anyone else gets super pumped up and aggressive about a person asking a casual question, well Sir, to quote Peter Griffin, you Sir... are a moron. I won't dignify your ridiculous statement with a response. It's self evident why no one should have to play games made by people from a particular content just to have characters from that place. Especially when we are talking about.... RAINBOW 6. perhaps youre too stupid to understand what those 2 words mean. One refers to the fact that in the books, people from multiple counter terrorist units came together as one. Diversity is baked into the very title. 6 refers to just how many different units there were. Not 1 or 2. But SIX. So no, it is not unreasonable to expect that in RAINBOW 6, there might be people that reflect the diversity of the people in those countries. Not unreasonable at all.

Ahh i see! Thanks dude. Appreciate the info. I'm not at all aware of these issues or the history of this stuff.

Just to point out, no one in this thread 'dislikes or even hates' any aspect about the game that i'm aware of, least of all diversity. It's super diverse. I mean, it's already a fuc king mini united nations. It's a wonderful game and devs deserve nothing but praise in my view. I think people are just stupid, read the title and, frankly, if they're a closet racist, just start shouting 'troll' and other horrible terms. Pretty sure if you're one of the ones who says 'go kill yourself' then you have some serious issues, whether or not youre a racist/sexist/probably both.

Btw do you regard Castle as a token? I would argue if anyone is a token, it's Frost. But neither are really. Theyre just really good, solid characters. In a game where frankly, it doesn't even matter that much. All we care about is do they look good and what are their weapons/abilities.

is it really so hard to find somewhere on the internet not full with little alt-reichers who think muslims have taken over the uk (when if you actually, you know, actually lived here or read anything about the uk not from brietbart it's white as christmas)

there are way more varieties of british soldier than generic-cockney (hell, the most famous SAS veterans all seem to be scottish) and the sas in game all dressed in the same Iranian Embassy Siege boiler suits so yeah, a little more variety isn't exactly a ridiculous request.

if anything the most legendarily badass british soldiers are the gurkhas, and it'd be sweet to have some in the game, but then at the same time i can only imagine the cries of "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WHITE GENOCIDE" despite the uk, you know, historically having a global empire that relied entirely on foreign soldiers.

Read the above post. Its not a blanket liberal thing. Its specific to us Brits. We know our country and our former glory was built on overseas exploitations. Which is why we have diversity now. Good or bad, its the reality, especially to londoners. Gurkas, but also indian and pakistanis fought for/along side us in WW2 and make up some of our special forces. Wouldve been cool to have a welshman, as well as a Manc, a Londoner and a Scot. But its not that important. They always get overlooked! :p
