ikr, after every patch there are several connection issues that arise also. That patch that happened 2 days ago screwed my connection to servers and am dc'ing every 10 mins or freezing

the sound works, you just dont understand how it works.

I started using overhead headphones and while playing Mira with no one around I kept hearing footsteps. Looked around, no one's there but the footsteps continue.
Until I realized that even looking left and right with the slightest angle change makes the same sound as taking 4 steps.
I get it if you turn around completely, like 180°, but the smallest mouse movement? Or up and down? Why Ubi?

Me looking left and right just by moving me head takes 4 steps? Turning 90 degrees takes 4 steps?
Bolt can finish 100 meters in 41 steps but looking left and right takes 4? No, that's not how it is in real life.

I still don't understand how looking left and right=4 steps.

Because you're more than likely overexaggerating. I've had the same thing happen, but I've never heard more than 2 steps when turning left or right. You're probably swinging your mouse left and right simultaneously and it's playing both groups of sounds together.

It's not, but keep being bad I guess.

From what I recall people saying, sound travels via the shortest path to your player. I also don't understand how vertical sound is "broken", as it is very easy to tell when sound is up or down. The reason the sound "makes no sense" is because it's not like every other game where it acts as if there is nothing to block the sound. When you actually introduce logic into how sound works, it doesn't sound anywhere near the same as it does in most other games.

Sorry, I'm not an idiot. I can count (to 10, thank you very much) and I don't swing my mouse uncontrollably.

Not uncontrollably, but if you claim that moving your mouse a millimeter causes footsteps to play, then that means if you move your mouse left and right or move your mouse left/right twice really quickly, it should play the sounds twice.

There's no reason to move your mouse so quickly with no one around you, not to mention the fact that I would've thought about it, but I actually checked what was making the sound, over multiple rounds, because I found it fascinating (and unrealistic).
I'm not saying the noise in its entirety is sh/it, but that specific element could use an improvement.

I do agree that the sound is a bit loud for simply turning, but I also have not experience hearing more than 2 footsteps when turning my character. It's definitely scared me before when I hear what sounds like a sprinting footsteps only to find out its me and that needs to be changed, but I've never experienced the multiple footstep issue.
