i play on arrow keys so it makes more sense for me to use something like Q and E

Q/E, but I rebind everything else since controls have some unnecessary complexity.
Z/X - prone/crouch
ALT/C - ability/gadget
CAPSLK/SHIFT - walk/sprint
CTRL/SPACE - vault/ADS*

*M2 for melee

I personally feel like anything other than Q & E would feel awkward, however, that depends on if your movement keys are the traditional WASD.

I would LOVE to see how the movement on that looks, especially if you're still using WASD.

It is possible if you have small keyboard or just unbind WASD to other near f1 and f2 my friend is using space and control to peek left and right and G to shoot while m1 button to throw grenade

Q&E

Q&E isn't really great as you're using the same fingers to move & lean. Works but if you're doing quick peeks at a fast pace, you need to crouch or some such your 3 fingers are rapidly over worked and mistakes can happen.

Problem can be remedied by assigning leans to mouse buttons, which works nicely - but now you're applying a bit of sideways force to your mouse, which can cause inaccuracy.

The only true solution then is:

Shift + spacebar

Now you have 3 fingers dedicated to moving/crouching, 2 dedicated fingers for leans. Your mouse is now free of any excess force applied to throw off your aim. If you assign leans to shift+space bar: your life is suddenly great, your wife is happy and the plebs online think you're a weirdo. You've won. It's time to have a rest and marvel at your signature look of superiority in the mirror.

Friends don't let friends use Q&E as lean.

I always found using abilities really awkward normally so I bound my abilities (Utility& character ability) to Q & E, and moved leaning to my mouse side buttons. That way I can lean, move in any direction, and easily access abilities or utility all simultaneously.

It took a little while to get used to but I've had it like this since 2018 and it's just so much better than Q & E in my opinion.
