Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Played R6 Siege for 50 hours, and really enjoying it!
Been playing R6 Siege for about three weeks and to this moment, I can't seem to put this game down and play anything else. It's become my go to shooter.

I haven't played anything this similar of a tactical team based fps shooter since CS: Source, and I understand these two are completely different games, but it's the closest style of game-play that I'm reminded of.

First thing I did was jump into a Newcomer match, which in retrospect was a bad decision on my part, as I was getting killed so often that I wasn't contributing anything to my team so I found out there were modes to test out some of the operator's unique abilities and how to complete each objective based mode.

After getting familiar with some of the operators and playing quick match modes, I've finally unlocked all the operators that I could unlock in-game without buying the operator's bundle, but after playing 50 hours, I'm leaning towards picking up that bundle to try them out.

During the beginning, as a newcomer, while it was a little stressful trying to pick up the new mechanics and how I approach each encounter as an attacker or defender, I kept getting hooked playing, wanting to get better. Eventually I was able to understand how important droning is as an attacker and how scouting each room and relaying any Intel to my team where the defenders are camping was paramount to any successful round. Even while following this example, we can still lose a lot of matches, but it has always worked better than trying to run-and-gun like it was a CoD game.

Defending so far seems to be a little easier compared to attacking, and it's probably where most of my successful rounds have been in so far. I enjoy playing as either Kapkan or Valkyrie, seeing as my play-style as a defender is to be a decent roamer, and relaying attacker's positions to my teams. I'm still experimenting with different operator's and I feel as though I will for many more hours to come before I can settle for which play-styles are my favorite. I think buying the dlc operator bundle will give me some interesting new play-styles to try out.

I have met griefers in game, and it is frustrating when they intentionally kill other team members, but so far for me, it's only occurred as many times as I can count the fingers on one hand. I do plan to eventually squad up with players that i know instead of only doing solo queues.

TL;DR: I am having a ton of fun playing R6 Siege as a new player, it's super addictive and it's a new shooter that is hard to put away and do something else.

I still remember when I first started out, a fun game indeed. I'd try operators like Mira and Jackal, who are very fun and adaptive to play, even try giving Cav a run if you're looking to learn the maps, or Montagne if you're looking for slower paced, low-risk gameplay.

Everyone learns that eventually, and it's made actually keeping new players a challenge, especially the ones from Discord I've played with, after their 120th hour or so, they just up and quit. My advice to OP would be to not try too hard, or attempt to raise their MMR. As odd as it might sound, the higher MMR levels are a completely different game, they're not fun, they're miserable and should be avoided at all costs.

To avoid toxic players, disable voice chat and text chat. I play with those off.

Nice read. Glad you are enjoying it.

To Everyone: Why are you guys saying the game is toxic and is getting worse and worse? You are not helping but actually being toxic yourself.

Don't strawman me, Mr. farmer man, people have made entire essays explaining why it's not as good as it used to be.

A bunch of users already explained why this game is garbage, its the same things over and over again.

Maybe you should stop being ignorant and spend a little bit of time reading what they post.

So trying to tell people who just bought the game or started playing it, to leave is toxic? Most of us here have above 1k hours, played for years.

We just want others who havent played it yet, to save money, time, energy and keep them away from this pile of trash.
