Thanks for reaching out!
If you were to be in a position to upgrade your existing version of the game, you would not need to remove it and it could it just be there, giving you the chance to access both versions of the game.
Additionally, if you were to ask us to remove your Standard Edition from Uplay PC, regrettably this wouldn't be something we could process, however instead, you always have the option to hide games you no longer wish to see in your Uplay account:
- Navigate to the Game tab.
- Hover over the title you would like to hide.
- Click the little arrow to drop-down the menu.
- Select "Hide".
The game will move to the "Hidden" section - you can find it at the bottom of your library.
In regards to the progress, just as circle. advised, it is associated with your Ubisoft account.
Hope this helps. Should you have any questions, let us know!

I can confirm that through-out game's timeline, there was never a period where you would need to have your previous game copy to be removed, if you are in a position to upgrade your game edition, and you could always keep a hold of multiple editions on the same account :).
Hope this answers your query.
Should there be any other questions, let us know!

Im fairly sure Steam doesnt let you buy the game though. Are you talking about UPlay?
The discussions are also getting posts everyday saying they arent able to upgrade their game, because Steam tells them they own the game already. The only way to fix it has been to remove the game and buy it again.
It does, actually.
Steam tells you for each version, so you can no longer buy the basic one again, but you can buy anything from deluxe and above.
I personally tried it.
Edit: oh, you mean without removing the game lol nvm
