This is kind of an old thread, but since it's already been necro'd, I'll answer everybody;

2. Maverick is another word for horse, generally speaking. The term "Maverick" also implies somebody who is very self-assured, self-guided, and like a "lone wolf" of sorts. He embodies the traits of the term "Maverick."
