Does suicide count as team kill?

I decided to blow myself up with c4 while playing a quick match where no one knew what they were doing, none of my teammates were near me, but after I blew myself up I got banned fur 30 minutes fur "excessive" team killing the only teammate I killed was me

They were all on the other side of the map, like 3 rooms over. I don't think the range of c4 is that high

I blew up myself 5 rounds straight in ranked with no problems. Maybe a glitch/bug ?

Probably I mean I was just in a match where someone c4ed a deployable shield and killed his entire team, and got kicked. I don’t think his teammates were near it.
