DEF - Kaid, Maestro(very powerful!)
some i thought of real quick
I did buy the game recently with the 2 year pack so I already have some of the operators you mentioned.
As for my playstyle, I try to adapt to the situation: careful attacker but occasionally willing to rush if the attack is sloppy; usually an anchor in defense, but sometimes I do roam when everyone else is locked tight.
As I said, I just have about 55 hours in game and as a rookie I still have to figure out which playstyle is best for me :D
If you like roaming, then Mozzie is amazing for that as well. Great loadout(will be losing the secondary shotgun, though), and one of the very best defense gadgets. Being able to drone as a defender can be quite powerful. You can use these drones passively or actively, though I prefer to use them passively - place them in hidden location such as on top of shelves and what not on the bombsites, so my team can use these cameras in case they need to retake.
If you solo queue often, then these videos can help you out. Guy explains his choices pretty well and what not -

Her gun isn't that crazy in terms of recoil but it is also sort of a laser so yeah she is pretty good if you like knowing where the enemies are.
What's more, Lesion has much more accurate gun, and more mines than Ela has.
Of course, both mines do work differently - Ela basically make enemy's aim a bit screwed, whereas Gu does basically nothing, since the nerf.
Think Lesion would be a better choice as stated above since you're more likely to help your team than having enemies triggering the stuns too close for comfort to you and your teammates.
