Ultimately it's up to you and your playstyle. If you're good at DMRs in general then by all means go for the .50. If you prefer that full-auto go for the M4. Trial and error is ultimately the best way to figure out what's best for you.
It's only viable for those with the skill of quick trigger fingers. Otherwise stick with the M4 for full-auto and you're capable of hitting headshots consistently.
AR-15 .50 Beowulf is arguably an good alternative over range if you have the trigger finger to help at CQC. If you don't like wasting fuel for blowtorch to break hatches then the DMR can help with utility which the M4 doesn't have.
Recommended to use them only for bigger maps like bank or any places with multiple hatches like consulate. Also the HK417 is probably one of the best DMR currently after the recent buffs which can compete with Twitch's F2 or utility for Lion since he has no breaching charges.
Considering how Siege average engagements are at 5-10 meters the M4 is truly the superior alternative in terms of versatility and the instant kill headshot mechanic that makes shotguns, DMRs, and LMGs pretty much obsolete in most circumstances.
If you're up for the challenge with the skills to do it then go for it. Otherwise just stay away from the AR-15 .50 Beowulf.
