Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Unpopular opinion(?), This game is getting too futuristic
I remember when the newest operators had gadgets that actually made sense. It quickly went from underbarrel shotguns to holograms that know where enemies are, drones that turn transparent and a literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ headache generator.

Most gadgets in the game feel somewhat realistic, if a bit advanced. Thermite uses thermite breaching charges, Mute has a jammer, Valk has a portable security camera etc. Even the guns really suit them. The guns aren't too futuristic, they are all grounded in reality.

So when an operator has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ movable hologram, smart glasses that see thru smoke or a gadget able to remove them from a video feed, it is kinda off putting to see them use guns like an MPX . Now i dont want the guns to get futuristic too, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way i want that. I dont want to see a laser rifle in the game.

Oh and Maestro is a crime in and of itself as his cameras lasers get blocked by windows. A light beam gets blocked by a piece of glass. Even his futuristic ass camera turret thing gets countered by a window.

PS. If someone happens to have seen this on reddit as well, i posted this there as well. Just in case you wanted to know. I just want a good discussion here.

Could you come up with practical, balanced and interesting operators that are realistic? (Besides the ones that already exist)

This^ Plus op is kinda right. Ubisoft has run out of ideas

Your opinion isn't unpopular, some people agree on that.

Lmao how about some actual unpopular opinion? The stuff I genuinely don't like would be:

All shields, they are literally just frustrating and offer nothing else, I'd say just remove them
Echo drones, they should not be invisible so maybe for once echo players will have to think(and even if they don't his gun is literally a better mp5 that somehow does more damage when suppressed
Jackal, remove the ability to scan all together, let him just see footprints and their age, maybe the scan reveals selected footprints to allies he still has one of if not the best gun in the game, secondary shotty and smokes, being able to completely ♥♥♥♥ up a roamer is dumb

Hmm, i'll try!

Maybe an attacker that has access to a flying drone instead of a grounded one. With the drone being able to fly really low to enter drone holes. When the drone is stationary it can see heat signatures thru thin walls. The reason it should be flying is to prevent it from making regular drones pointless. It should make more noise and there should only be 1 available to the operator to force them to be careful with it.

For defence, an operator that has decoy grenades could be pretty neat. the operator should play a bit like Cav, but instead of an insanely powerful skill, the operator would be more modular. An integrally suppressed rifle like a VSS or AS VAL along with a suppressed secondary shotgun could prove interesting for roamers as they would make breaching and killing quieter.

To be honest, coming up with new operators is insanely hard. It is clear that Ubi has used up their ideas as well. The baseline operators are more than enough to be honest. I would love to see additions for the operators. New guns, new attachments new secondary gadgets etc.

I agree with the shields their place isn't in this game.
About echo drones. I think they should get invisible slower after firing and make a sound after scanning and someone is detected.
I don't know how to feel about Jackal but that definetly sounds ok.

I prefer a new update that adds new attatchments, guns instead of 2 operators.

I would like to play with year 1 operators only. At least try it, the gameplay will be so different.

I was thinking of a gamemode like that. It's going to be fun

Some kind of hole-patching operator

leaving it vague because I have no clue how to balance it specifically

That doesn't sound like an unpopular opinion to me.. Well, perhaps, I, myself, am strange.

It's not a bad idea in general. But can he only fix small holes? Is he carrying a bucket of Ubi magic infused plaster that quickly dries up?

Ive always said a hole patching operator would be awesome. Like have it spray some kind of heat resistant metallic foam or something.

I feel like most of the operators are within the realm of possibility (holograms are just now becoming a possible thing but theyre not up to what Iana can do.) It does worry me that siege is going down the route of Call of Duty and going to start having cloaking devices and the like.

Nice, a kind of spray that fires metallic substance that quickly materialize into solid metal, kind of Maverick but the opposite, sounds good
