Getting consistent ping spike lags?

Recently, while trying to play, I've noticed a lot more lag from my ping as it spikes at random. I do have a NETGEAR range extender for my Wi-Fi which is in my room since I noticed it gives me better download and upload speeds there, and my house is 3 floors. Not sure how it's able to get up here from 2 floors down but yeah OK.

I use a 5GHZ band for a Wi-Fi connection, but I also use an ethernet connection that's wired into my wall right to the router. I also manage to get a consistent ping of 35-40 which I'm fine with but with these spikes it makes the game annoying to play sometimes.

Turn off Wi-Fi and exclusively use your wired connection, especially considering you need to jump through several different routers to hit your modem.
If that fails, try validating game files and updating drivers for your Wi-Fi adapters.

edit: oh, and make sure it's not other people in your house eating bandwidth; set priority of Rainbow Six to realtime. And make sure you're not accidentally auto-downloading something else in the middle of it.

There's only one other PC in my house that does get used however it never uses the network I'm usually on. Also, yes, I do check before playing to make sure nothing is downloading before jumping in.

I'll try setting Siege to real time next time. If that doesn't work I'll think of something.

Weird, this only happens with jumps to the 60s... it jumps to 100 and beyond now so idk what's going on.
