A weird situation against 'Castle'.

Hello,

Before I get into this thread, I want to mention that despite my 70 hours in, I'm still a newbie, as there is a lot to learn in this game, keep that in mind before you point me out something super obvious.

So, I had this match yesterday, where I was the only one left alive, as a Glaz, against the enemy Castle.

He was at the objective, with 3 entrances (2 doors, 1 window), all being barricaded with his gadget (and thus impossible for my sniper to destroy and get in), there wasn't a usual square above the point, that I could have used to enter from above.

And I was stuck in this weird situation, 2 minutes left, no drones, no breach charges (because it's glaz) and a single enemy target guarding the objective.

I lost the point, not even because I have a bad skill level, and/or I got outplayed, but because the game doesn't seem to have been optimized for these situations.

As it was, I had no way to destroy those walls.
Was it my fault? Can you advise me a little?

I forgot to mention in the original post, but at the start of the round, I tried shooting down the barricade with my sniper, I shoot around 2 and a half magazines before giving up, thinking it's impossible.

Yeah, only breach items or melee works against Castle walls

Yeah, you used to be able to shoot downbarricades with glaz, but it only makes holes right now. (You could also peek fron the holes.)

Glaz' rifle only opens mini holes on the barricade of castle, while 11 melee hits should help ya ! :)

No it's not entirely your fault as Glaz since Castle got a buff for his barricades quite a long time ago that it takes Glaz to take more shots to destroy it with his rifle. Even though it makes holes for you to peek they would usually just hide and wait at the corner since you're attacking.

If the situation was that all entrances were blocked then you would've had no choice since you don't have frag grenades equipped to destroy those barricades and have to start slowly breaking it down with 11 melee hits until he shoots your feet.

If there was a way in then the best strategy was to just do a plain old last minute rush with a pistol (preferably the PMM for it's higher base damage and minimal recoil) and gun down Castle. The PMM can easily defeat Castle's UMP-45 in damage output at close range when you have good aim and trigger finger.

Yeah as people say, it's not your fault or there wasn't much you could do anyway, did teammates flame you for it? Nowadays people can whine about other players even in casual mode, and this game isn't also very newbie friendly, hell, I've been tk a few times just because I picked the main op of another person, or I didn't clutched 1v5 but managed to kill 2 or 3 and then vote-kicked because I was "supposed" to clutch while none of my teammates didn't even killed anyone

They did, but it wasn't anything extreme.
And it's just casual-video games, not like it's gonna hurt me.
But they certainly sounded like I could have done something. :D

My issue personally with that situation is that I didn't really get any advice or hints, and it just seemed very unbalanced (which it still is if I can only take it down with melee, as that's pretty much me digging my own grave, as that Castle wouldn't have just waited there in silence for me to enter).

this is a situational game as you might have experienced, which is its beauty. now, according to your situation, ONLY MELEE or Breaching charges or Zofia's ability or any other ops with breaching abilities can break castle's barricade. 70 hours in this game is nothing, i would say this game needs about 500 hours at least to get a sense of everything, i have about 1800 hours in this game and im still learning new tricks

Exactly, I'm clocking over 2,1k hours and still learning new things time to time. You need at least 100 hours to start to know the maps well (depends from person to person)

That's exactly why I've mentioned it at the start and requested some advice.
And again, it's not really that it's situational, it's that this specific situation seems a little bit unbalanced.

Glaz rifle was changed so that it doesn't penetrate through castle barricades anymore.
this has been so quite a few patches ago.

that situation is supposed to favor castle though. he would be completely useless otherwise, so I fail to see how that is unbalanced.

Op isnt complaining about Castle being unbalanced, he/she just didnt know about meleeing those, and wanted to ask what he/she could have done in this situation.

No need to optimize the game, with 2 mins left you could easily have punched the barricade 5 times to break it. or used Glaz's nades to blow it.
