You gain Alpha Packs for playing the game, able to get more for using renown, not credits.
Sure: They COULD tell the numbers, but why... why should they? Ubisoft does it well: no pay to win, no dlc which is locked away from those who are not able to/are not interested to pay additional money, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, etc.
If they are able to make people spend renown on alpha packs, perhaps people will start getting credits for operators or skins.
Is it customer friendly? Yes.
How? Well.... in any other game you would have no system where you earn ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...
And how do AlphaPacks have anything to do with cash prizes for tournaments?
I am pretty sure you don't understand the system behind this and it's fine. Just accept it and enjoy that they give you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Nope
Microtransactions
People buy them when they've run out of stuff to spend renown on I guess.
since they have litteraly nothing else to buy they can test their luck on alpha-pack exclusive skins like black ice
