How is Kaid's name pronounced?

A friend of mine thinks it is pronounced (KA-EED). Can any Arabic-speaking people answer this?

I have a friend from Egypt I was able to ask. He said if his name is spelled like it is, it is pronounced (KAAD) with a silent "I". He also said that it is the Arabic word for "serious". This is how he typed it in Arabic. "جاد"
