Remove 2-STEP VERIFICATION. Some of us don't want to get it or don't have mobile devices.

I don't have a mobile device. Should I be locked out of ranked now. Even tho I have sunk 600 hours into this game and my favorite gamemode is ranked. How is this fair to people who do not have mobile devices or forcing people who do to use it!

Edit. For people without phones the Google Extension Authenticator helped and I have done the 2-step vertification. This does not mean it's okay. We should have the freedom to play with or without a phone.

CSGO implanted the same system and it worked out fine. It slows down the cheaters with multiple accounts. This community asked Ubi to deal with the cheaters and they are doing it. Now they're complaining about something they've been warned about for months.

There isn't any disadvantage in sending the verificiation code using text messages instead of using app. EA does that for origin and it just work fine and every kind of mobiles have the ability to receive text messages.

at this point buying a flipphone doesnt make much sense anymore, they cost like what 20 30 dollars now?
you can buy a smartphone on ebay for as low as 50 dollars, if you pay 50 dollars it wont be that good, but its a great upgrade from a flipphone

if you want a quality smartphone i found a lg g6 on ebay for as low as 175 dollars, which the g6 was 650 when it came out, massive price decrease

You can get a google chrome extension for authenticator on PC. I use the one by authenticator.cc, and It worked perfectly fine on ubisoft 2fa. I hope this helps someone since nobody seems to be listening lol.

Didn't read everything, but what irks me a lot is the need to use Google Authentificator.
That means:
1. Google collects even more data.
2. That means you need to have your phone near you to play ranked.
3. And you need an Apple or Android phone to make it works (well, except for the good soul that found or at least reported the workaround, thank you mate).

Yeah, I'm one of the sucker that still use a Windows Phone (I like it, don't hate me).
I hoped that at least a Windows Store app would be available to install on PC, and maybe even on WPhone, but nooooooo, you need to have to use the 2 other phones, and f*ck PC users. Meh.

Well, I'll have to install a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ browser I don't like and try the workaroud now.

Don't get me wrong, while I find the idea of 2-steps verification a hassle, I was ready to welcome it without any problem until I saw that half-backed solution.

its 2018, phones are a dime a dozen. Your argument is bunk. Id rather do this then deal with hackers.

Keep in mind CS:GO did the same thing and it did not stop hackers. They have now abandoned their work on "prime" matchmaking in favor of "trust factor" matchmaking.

This is a bandaid on a problem that the devs have no idea how to address.
