Siege on PS4

So I bought my brother in law this game on his ps4 while I own it on PC and realized that you have to have a subscription to play online? That’s the dumbest ♥♥♥♥ I’ve ever heard of. Why do they have to pay while we play for free? I know Many nerds will talk ♥♥♥♥ when I would too but... why? It’s a waste of money to do that. Why? That boggles my mind. What’s the legitimate reason?

Rainbow 6 siege has nothing to do with the ps plus, so why did you post this here?
EDIT i know it requires PS Plus to play online, but that is required for every multiplayer game

simple , consoles are locked down systems
if sony says you can only play online if you donate a kidney , what other options do you have if you want to keep playing online on your playstation

they saw how much success microsoft had with it during the 360 gen , and thought "hey if we had done it too , we would have made more money" , so they added it on ps4

Only the ones you have to buy. I can go and load up any free to play online game and play fine.

Only the ones you have to buy. I can go and load up any free to play online game and play fine.

you can just play them online for free on pc aswell

thats why i dont like consoles
they limit you so much

i think on ps4 only the free games are free to play online? which makes no sense, feel like it should be the other way around
if im paying for my electric bill and internet bill, the console, AND the games i dont want to spend another 50 dollars a year to just play online

Sony, just like Microsoft, say that PS+ (or Xbox Gold for Microsoft) is necessary to keep the PSN (or Xbox Live) service up and running. With consoles, you use these services to link you up with the games own servers.

in 2k18 you dont need a premium service for that

At least they give you free games monthly to somewhat compensate I guess, but at the end it really is just another way to milk you out of more money...

so true , meanwhile , i just spend 30€ a year on siege to get all ops ( or i just play enough to farm the renown for the next year ops ) and done , i can even play a round of black ops 2 just fine even 6 years after it came out

So... Basically what Steam does for free... I’ve never seen anything that console’s premium membership does that Steam doesn’t do.

Sony and Microsoft have no excuse other than greed. I get wanting to turn a profit. But you can do that without screwing over the consumer. Offer actual reasons to buy it instead of holding the multiplayer hostage until you pay them. It’s one of the reasons I switched. And I know that over the course of time more people will switch as they realize how anti-consumer consoles really are.

I remember when I was overseas and got a fat check so I bought the best gaming PC I could even though I had been playing with a PS4 for years. Best ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing when I played online without ever having to pay for it
