its personal pref, its like asking what controls to use. alot of people including me use toggle though

Depends on your preference. Holding it gives you a faster reavtion time since your finger is always on the button, but you'd have to move a finger away from one of the direction keys (like AWD). Toggling gives you the ability to have your fingers on the direction keys almost the whole time, but it can also decreases the speed of leaning back to the normal position. I prefer holding it.

depends on your bind aswell,I got it on my mouse so I prefer hold,but if you have it on e/q then toggle would be better so you can move

toggle, i used to hold, it just gave me a difficult time moving while peeking, made my life miserable

Personally, I prefer TOGGLE because it allows me to peek and focus on my aim and movement. Then when I need to change I can quickly tap to peek left or right and then return to what I'm looking at.
