Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

A Sniper Operator??...
I've been thinking about this, idk if it's suitable for this game. We do have Glaz, but I'm thinking of a different type of sniper rifles. I want an operator with an actual sniper. It will need a lot of balancing, though. I think it would be a fun operator to play, as I really love snipers in most of the games I play. What do you guys think?

But those maps still aren't long range. I mentioned this earlier, but I can't recall a single spot on any map where you're firing at 150m in game, without lots of testing or standing across the map with a defender outside and against the far border) And of course it would affect gameplay. They'd have to specifically design maps to be useful for the operator, or redesign existing maps to accomodate the operator. Glaz's rifle, or a DMR on some other operators, is more than sufficient at "long range" on any map that we currently have.

And yes, in real life there would probably be snipers (like there are in Thunt), but comparing Siege to real life in any significant way doesn't go anywhere. The game isn't meant to be realistic. Which is why I approached it from a gameplay perspective, not a realism perspective.
It doesn't have to be used for really long ranges. It could still be used for ranges like the range Glaz's rifle can reach. As I said, it would have an ACOG that cannot be switched to another sight, but would have a canted iron sight for close-quarter combat.
I was simply highlighting the range issue because using a bolt action sniper rifle in a CQC situation makes little to no sense. DMRs exist in the game already, which, as far as I can tell, do pretty much what you want a bolt action rifle to do in game, but just without a hybrid sight (Glaz excluded, of course). Using a bolt action rifle in those situations wouldn't provide a tactical advantage, it'd provide a tactical disadvantage. Look, I get it, you like bolt action sniper rifles, and want to use one in Siege. But from where I'm standing, what you're looking for is already in the game in the form of Glaz or using a DMR on another character. Adding another operator with only a DMR with a hybrid sight is something that I can see working out, but adding a bolt action rifle seems far fetched at best. That being said, Ubi did add a "tactical" double-barrel shotgun, so we may end up with some weird bolt action rifle, it remains to be seen.

Um, isn't Glaz's rifle a sniper rifle?

Cause you have like Lion, Twitch & Dokkaebi with DMRs as well
I wouldn't think it would work. The maps are way too small for a sniper rifle to be effective.
the rifle would be the gadget then
I could see this being a gadget rather than a primary weapon.
Giving the sniper operator 1 weapon to start off with, maybe an SMG or machine pistol that does low damage.
I guess the sniper would work like Tachanka's turret. Setting it up on something or going prone with it would be the only way to use it. It'd be a good way to hold down a hallway or angle.
What would be the point of it? This is Siege, not Battlefield. Engagements take place in close quarters.

what he said
A sniper without like an x8 scope. We can use on it the regular scopes as all the other weapons. I think it could work, the game doesn't have to be long-range for a sniper to work.

Have you ever played Nuketown in Call of Duty?
But again, what is the point? Do you want someone with super penetration? Someone with the ability to wallhack (ala Farsight Rifle from Perfect Dark)? Don't think about the weapon but what you want the ability of it to be.

And if you are using the Sniper Rifle's once people get inside, you're usually dead.
