Knife Hitboxes

I play a lot of Caveira, and i like to flank the enemy team and get knife kills, but even when im in range to touch them, the knife kills dont register.
Am I just bad, or is anyone else having this problem?

I will never forget the time i walked right up to blitz so close i my leg was almost touching him and i pressed that knife button and it didn't do nothing exept go right through him and do no damage.

I knifed a person about 2-3m away from me
Seems like hitbox is all over the place
