Controller and mouse possible?

A friend is trying to convince me to play this. I have only one reservation. I HATE using a keyboard and mouse. But everyone, including my friend, keeps telling me not to use a controller. Does this game allow hybrid use of controller and mouse? I have this setup with Overwatch and it feels like the best of both worlds.

For aiming, probably. But if I use it just for movement, probably not.

If you use controller you are going to be destroyed by those flick shots...

You can ... sort off, you can aim with the mouse but cant shoot with it (mouse click).

In Overwatch initially you can't use both without them clashing. But in the options menu there is a setting to disable it. The game acts like you are only using a keyboard and mouse, all button prompts act like this, but still recognized input from a controller. Does this setting not exist in this game?

Yes you can use it and I know many people in my squad use it aswell. It's not that bad.

On PC at least, anyone who's using a controller against KM users is gonna get destroyed by default, because using a mouse has more look and aim control and has more precision than just moving a stick with your thumb.

Can you tell me how to set it up and make it work? Because others, including my friend who just tried it himself, keep saying that it won't work well or keeps you from firing.

It objectively doesn't in a game that's infinitely more complex than Overwatch.
