A riveting anecdote I must say.
if you are 100% certain you hit the persons head, but no blood came out that is not at the fault of hitreg, that is the server denying your shot due to either high ping or packet loss and some other reasons
this game also has punishing hitboxes, unlike games like overwatch and tf2 the hitboxes are located INSIDE of the playermodel, and it doesnt count clothing either
yes, that includes jagers big fat headgear
that also explains why hitreg on glaz feels worse, it doesnt light up the hitbox, it lights up the entire player model
does that mean hitreg is perfect? lolno, i had a couple hiccups myself, one time i was playing maestro and shot like 30 bullets into her head and torso, there was blood yet the ying took 0 damage
when was the next hitreg hiccup? it took an estimate of about 4 months...
its easy to say the game has bad hitreg, but when you actually take the time to understand how ubisoft does things you really just have to think about these things
The hitreg in this game is bad because the servers are bad. It's a matter of them still rocking ancient tech instead of upgrading to the modern speeds that many other shooters use now. They simply dont care though because Esports uses lan which negates that, and that is all they care about.
You can make all the guarantees you want, but the excellent state of hit registration in this game is something that anyone can easily verify. The reason Ubisoft is not "fixing" it is because there's nothing to fix, and they won't work on anecdotes.
And what exactly does playing on LAN "negate"? The server architecture is the same regardless and thus should suffer from the same hitreg issues if they really existed (but they don't).
And which "other shooters" use these "modern speeds" you're referring to?
If you mean the "frozen" killcam showing the enemy's head apparently getting hit by a bullet, then that's simply an issue of your shot being rejected by the server because the server had already confirmed that you were dead. The lower your ping the less likely this is to happen.
This game has a bit of a hitreg problem, and it also has a hitbox system that makes it seem like hitreg sucks. Two things can be true at once.
Both of these things together make the whole game seem like crap. Which is unfortunate
