Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Can I launch the game without Steam?
Instead of having both Steam and Uplay launch to play the game, is it possible to uninstall the game from Steam, then reinstall the game from Uplay and just use that launcher? Or will Uplay forbid it since I bought the game from Steam originally?

As you bought the game on Steam, Steam is required to launch it. If you buy one of our games from Uplay alone, then you would not require Steam.

Nope. If you bought it from Steam, it'll need Steam to run the game despite the fact it has Uplay for a launcher and needs an Uplay account aswell.

Since Ubi staff ignored my post ima ask here.

Is there ANY specific reason why the Y1 bundle isn't sold separately on Steam and instead I have to buy the entire Y4 bundle + literally rebuy the game itself?

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/12245/Tom_Clancys_Rainbow_Six_Siege__Gold_Edition/ ^I'm talking about this^

You can buy it in-game for r6 credits.

Steam has a 90% discount for the Y1 bundle at the moment. Buying it for credits would cost me literally more than what I've paid for game itself.

Like, why the hell is this implemented in such way? I'm practically buying cd-key for Uplay which I have to activate for it's own account and without it my Steam copy of the game is useless.
Instead of forcing Steam users to mess with both launchers, Uplay and it's games can actually grow in popularity by letting players to let go off Steam.

Then don't buy it thru Steam? Buy it from Uplay? It's the same way if you buy it from Epic store.

I'm trying to point out that there is no need for such restrictions at all, if there is no good reason statement about such policy. I'm not interested in blunt conservative advices about what I should do.

You bought the game from Steam, so you have to launch it from Steam for verification that you own it, what's more to explain?

In all fairness, now when you purchase EA games from Steam and link them to your Origin account, you can download the game through Origin without needing Steam since it's linked to your account.

Eh... that's the point. The same verification process implemented in Uplay and it doesn't 'have to be so Steam dependent when Uplay is already Steam-like thing where you can buy-activate-download-play games. If I lost my Uplay account, it doesn't matter that I own the game on Steam - it will not launch because what matters here is my Uplay account and not Steam. It just ridicilous.
I have several Assassin's Creed games on my Uplay account and one of them is easily downloading right from Uplay, but the others redirect me to Steam. The diffirence between them is where I've got activation code - from purchase on Steam or in DVD-case. But wait! UPLAY DIDN'T ASK ME TO INSTALL THE GAME FROM THE DISC. I didn't even have to insert the disc in PC. I've just entered the code in Uplay and now I can download and launch the game directly from Uplay. But for some reason Ubisoft have policy that if you get the code from the game purchased on steam then you can't download the game from Uplay directly. That's dumb.

Exactly the point!

lol what does the disc have to do with Steam? Even if you have a Steam code for other game, they never make you install from the disc if there's a code in it. Tsk tsk.

Some Ubisoft titles are cheaper if you buy thru Steam due to regional prices, that's why people prefer to buy it from Steam, and they don't mind launching Steam, like me. If you don't like the way Ubisoft do things then simply buy a Ubisoft code, or buy it thru Ubisoft store. Complaining won't fix it.

Actually, complaining is exactly what got EA to come back to Steam.

This is called "raising awareness of the situation".
