it doesnt download your files. it scans them for detected cheats
Nut Jul 12, 2019 @ 6:05am
Lets just say that battle eye is say a bad anti-virus and the virus it's scanning for is cheats like aimbots and such

you need to download it to be able to play, and yeah it is safe, it's literally the game's anticheat.

Hi, I just installed TC Rainbow Six Extraction and got a Battleye notification listing all of the information it needs from my system and one of the things it needs is my IP address, which raised a red flag for me and is when I decided to look it up to see if it was safe and found nothing useful so I contacted Ubisoft directly and asked about it at https://www.esrb.org/privacy/contact/ and ask them why Battleye needs my IP address and they said "It's so we can track down cheaters", and to any smart person who knows what an IP address is it is basically a long string of numbers that identifies your computer on a network, sort of like how your home address identifies your home on a GPS (Global Positioning System) out of all the homes in the world. And that is when I asked them again while this time being more specific as to find out in what way do they track down cheaters and I was told "We look through the accounts and collect anything note worthy", and I asked again only this time about what they deem "note worthy" and they sent nothing back so far. And I will say that it using an IP address does seam odd if all your doing is trying to stop hackers but what's even more interesting is it looking through other accounts and files which is probably the largest security risk out there because you just never know what will happen with your data.

It's a rat (like every "good" anti cheat), but that's the price u gotta pay for playing the game.

1. rodents are worth more than people
2. its "intrusive", i suppose, but it doesn't report your passwords to the government or whatever. so its pretty much good in my book
