Can I change the default advanced gadget deployment key to something else than left mouse button?
Can I? If so, how?

Controls > Customise Controls > Scroll down to Primary gadget and change that

He meant the button to deploy after you go into gadget mode.

Yes, if you have advanced deployment mode and you press 4, you then have to hold LMB to deply it which is literally the worst button to put it on, because it's your primary fire, if you accidentally think you are in a gadget mode you might shoot it. Why don't put it on F as default which is default interaction key?
