Neither of these modes are honestly worth buying the game for, however they did recently update Terrorist Hunt for the first time in several years which could point towards the mode getting a full revamp soon.
For being on sale cheap, I found it worth it for the PVE. But after years of playing I find it hard to stick around with no new content outside of Science Fiction heroes being added to the game because they want Siege to be more like Overwatch instead of a CSGO competitor for Esports like originally planned (hence why they canned Patriots a singleplayer story driven game).
The year pass can vary on taste but to me Year 1 was worth looking into (never had the chance) and Year 2 was OK at best. Year 3 was a joke and Year 4 is an abomination in operators. Its gone full on SyFy Channel and forced diversity rather than making fun operators to play with and alter strategies.
I still prefer Rainbow Six 3 and Vegas 2. I still play SWAT 4 even. The older games were more tactical and singleplayer driven with co-op and multiplayer as an after thought. Sadly those days are over.
PvE wise we got the situations (aka tutorials) & Terrorist Hunt (that can be played CO-OP, or as lone wolf).
In Thunt you can play up to 5 players in matchmaking, or as "friend squad" only. The modes are: disarm bombs (basically activate the defuser to disable 2 bombs, while holding your ground against waves of bots); terrorist hunt classic (basically TDM, with no respawn against 22-30 bots depending on the difficulty); extract hostage (self explanatory); protect hostage (protection of the hostages, against waves of the White Mask terrorist group).
I'll put here the complete archetype of all the current White Mask terrorists bots, on my edit.

Oh man I loved SWAT 4 too, so many good memories. I totally missed Vegas. Do people still play that? Rainbow Six 3 actually was the last R6 I properly played.
And since it was mentioned, I actually hate this hero path that Siege went. At least it did give me a sour aftertaste when I did try it during a free weekend a longer while back. If I wanted this stuff I would be playing TF2, Dirty Bomb, Overwatch or [insert any other random hero shooter the market has been flooded with]. R6 always was about realism, these heroes just seem misplaced.
Yet it is called "Tom Clancys Rainbow Six"
What a f*cking shame
When Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine is out, that should be another nail in the coffin of Tom Clancy's, due that game being even more arcadeish & a different genre than his original work on his book & the "OG" rainbow six games themselves.
