No more temporal filtering?
Watching video guides saying not to use t-aa for anti aliasing but use temporal for multisample or something.... yet the option seems to not be in the game anymore. Help please

MultiSample AntiAliasing. This option exists in settings with up to 8x samples to set.

Please show me where as it doesn't show up for me- here's an image of my settings: https://imgur.com/a/DuoE4

My question is, is T-AA what all these people are calling temporal filtering for msaa? I guess so.

Yeah TAA is pretty blurry so ofc if you do long range headshots with 4x with really tight corners then TAA becomes a problem because of the blurriness and makes you unable to see the enemies, so its just better to use more sharper AA, but some people cant handle them since AA in siege use a lot of power from the PC.

I thought the best option for AA was the one that gave you the best FPS?

You do not want temporal (T-AA) filtering as this is half-resolution with 4x msaa applied. Better play game with your native resolution and MSAA or use VSR/DSR to play game in resolution higher than your monitor's native resolution.

yeah but if you look at my specs I kind of need T-AA as it gives me way more FPS. So I'm just confused about the whole things, have no idea what to do since everyone's giving me different advice.

Devs removed it, I forget why.

so if t-aa is bad but I need to get the 70-120 fps at all times (have to prevent getting under 60 at all times) what do i do? I think if i just set it to "off" i will lose a ton of frames. But what's so bad about t-aa?

I mean sure, but im saying if PC handles it then more sharper AA options are better.

I use TAA not because my PC can't handle the others, but because the others cause me to experience mouse lag/delay.

so t-aa is totally fine for competitive play? also my field of view i raised to 80, and zoom depth of field is still on. I'm not sure of the standard field of view bar in display settings affects performance though. ty

I don't mind T-AA, i only use it to not have mouse lag.

Your FOV should be maxed and your Depth of Field should be off.

I would suggest that you use T-AA if you love high-fps. You can change TAASharpeningFactor in the settings files to 0.375 from 0 if you want it to look slightly less blurry. I would not recommend going much higher tho, but that is ofc up to you.

ok thanks, I might mess around with it later on. I'm good with t-aa at the moment though, I like the fps im getting. By the way, is it ok to have shading and shadow quality to low? I noticed I get more frames on low, but I know one of them may be important. Static shadows sound fine to me, they are just shadows overall but I know I may be missing a slight advantage.

Weird if AA causes input lag.

I use FXAA, i know i know, it sounds weird because usually it is the most hated one in competitive shooters, but in this game FXAA is kinda fine, i get same FPS as with T-AA which is 150fps minimum (i know, overkill, but i dont want any dips below 144) and its much sharper than T-AA is, since it looks like a blurry mess, in this game FXAA is not blurry but much sharper than T-AA is.
