You should've gotten an uplay recovery code as well when you started using the two-step authenticator.

Isnt there like an option to remove the authenticator on ur old phone and use ur new phone as the new authenticator like steam does

Yeah, there is. Uplay has 3 recovery codes, which of atleast one is required to switch to a new phone.
