Are the SAS immune to Smoke's gas grenades?
I was playing as Thatcher when I suddenly found myself in one of Smoke's clouds of gas, Thatcher started coughing but I didn't seem to take any damage. Is this a bug or a feature?

So why are the other operators also wearing gas masks if they die frome Smoke's gas?

Cosmetics? That would be a dumb reason, if not the dumbest. Operators wear gear for tactical reasons. Their style can differ however it should be useful. Charms and skins are cosmetics and useless.

Well Tachanka's helmet looks like it could protect against a nuclear explosion, but he can still be one-tapped with a 9mm bullet. Cosmetics are just a part of the game :3

Smoke's gasmask is connected to special equipment on his lower back and he is wearing a CBRN (pronounced see-burn) suit that is protecting his entire body from the chemical gases. Mute and Thatcher do have their bodies completely covered as well which should grant them immunity as a whole by itself but I don't know what their filters are so that can play a factor. Sledge may wear a CBRN suit but he doesn't have the hood over his face which would protect him from the gases irritating or soaking into his skin to cause adverse effects on his body.

Honestly, I have no flipping clue why that it's like that for Smoke's beauties on the other SAS operatives. They are appropriately protected by their equipment and shouldn't be affected by the gas in my honest opinion and I've been saying that since day 1 on PS4.

How is it tactical that Jaeger uses and pilot helmet in CQC?
Or this stupid thing from Hibana
Ash, Pulse and Twitch are to fancy for helmets i guess?

Just google it, there is something that explains it kinda why the reallife SAS uses gas masks:

"The short answer is protect themselves form the effects of noxious weaponized gas and also gaseous non lethal irritants (like CS & CB gas).
Modern stun grenades can be set up to detonate multiple times & also release CS & CB gas which causes coughing, puking & panic. It truly, truly - just sucks. CS is one of the ingredients in commercial mace and is also used to control crowds referenced as Tear Gas.

With eyes, ears, throat & mouth assaulted in a non lethal way - the extremely high risk phase will have tipped the balance in the SAS units favor so that they can set about their objectives clearing rooms, killing/capturing hostiles, separating hostages etc

The whole thing would not work if they entered without their masks - and inhaled the gas themselves ….."

If you interested just copy pasted it. So there is a tactical reason behind it. For the ones that i mention above i don't think there is.

The smoke desc. says noxious gas but i mean they have to do it this way or he would be useless against the attacker SAS

Mustard agent vapor easily penetrates clothing fabrics such as wool or cotton, so it is not only the exposed skin of victims that gets burned.

Despite all SAS Operators wearing gas masks, Smoke's gas grenade will still damage them if exposed. This is due to the other operators not wearing full NBC suits, just the SAS BDU and a gas mask of varying design, whereas Smoke dons a full NBC suit, which also protects the skin from gas.

CBRN is chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear rated gear. smoke is only equipped for chemical you would know this if you bothered to search up cbrn for the sas and british armed forces which look nothing like the standard issue uniforms the sas wear in game

Smoke (and to extensions all other operators) is a special CTU operator. Who clearly isn't equipped with standard issue gear that the SAS would normally have. How do we know he isn't immune to radiation as far as the game is concerned?

the other SAS members are not wearing a fully pressurized suit like Smoke is. Their masks are designed to protect against ordinary aerial contaminates like smoke and such.
But that would mean that lion and finka are immune to his smoke, they are wearing full hazmat suits
they are biohazard group
