Why does everyone use the MPX instead of Spas-12 on valk?

Nine times out of ten you'll lose a 1v1 firefight with a shotgun.

It has much better synergy with her cams. Used offensively you can set up a lot of great peeks, vault peeks or simply prefire enemies with certainty. A shotgun restricts you to a very short engagement distance and takes away a lot of opportunities you otherwise created for yourself.

Shotguns force you to only fight at close range. Basically if you're shooting at anything beyond 5 meters then you are outgunned by all the attackers. And unlike Smoke, she can't have an SMG secondary and her shotgun isn't good for making holes.

i run shotguns on various operators , mainly on smoke and sledge when its a small map and valk occasionaly , almost always as lesion.
The problem is automatic shotgun's are a hit or miss depending if the first shot hits fully and pump shotguns are more of an utility since the inconsistency between their pellets is ridiciolous

Thus they are more used in CQC and widely used by the Defenders.
Currently a lot of people are using pump-shotguns.

Thats why shotguns are useless at higher levels of play or vs a cooperative team.
Poeple will drone you out while your hiding in a corner
the only shotguns actually worth using are :
Pulse ( If the map is paper mache )
Bandit ( tight maps )
Smoke ( alway )
Jackal and Mira ( does anybody even ever swap it off for the pistol ? )
Ying ( if breaching with all the candelas )
the rest are situational

I guess you really never played much then considering there are a rising numbers of Shotgun usage now.

Very much depends on your playstyle.

Mpx is a lot more flexible than a shotgun, does a better job at peeking, can score headshot just by spamming bullets.

Spas is actual a very good auto shotgun compared to the rest available. It requires a lot of aggressive plays.

Heck, i actually pick val, just for the her shotgun and wipe the entire team. Just make sure you have high ping
