Honest to god, you people need to learn of a wonderful invention called "Google".
It'd go to your uPlay account.
The only difference between the physical copy and Steam's digital copy is that Steam allow you an easier access to the Steam community while the physical copy must be set as a "non-steam game" which doesn't have any quick access to the Steam forum/screenshots/etc.
If you got any friends who play the game, joining them doesn't change anything because the game works with the UPlay friends' list and not Steam friends.
