[Fixed] Alt-Tab Game Freezing PC Bug
Sometimes when I Alt-Tab into the game, especially on a loading screen, the game just freezes up. My entire PC freezes up, I cannot do anything and I have to turn my PC off and on. It has become a big problem, occuring many times a day now. My PC specs are on my steam profile and I play borderless. I'm pretty sure it's a bug but no-one else has experienced it.

Edit: The problem eventually got worse until I constantly had high CPU usage and everything was laggy. So I reset windows 10 and reinstalled all my programs BUT Nvidia drivers (that came with Nvidia shadowplay). It solved the problem for me so it could be the same for you.

I found the solution. For me, it was caused by the AMD driver update 17.7. I rolled it back to 17.4 and it works like charm. Try rolling back to the last update which didn't give you this issue.

I don't have any AMD Parts in my PC but it could've been my Nvidia Drivers. I'm not sure.

Not sure if my problem was exactly the same, but here is what worked for me to fix it.

[FIX] : For me the problem stopped occurring after I uninstalled OverWolf ( an extension to TeamSpeak.)

My Exact problem was:
My R6 was set to full-screen mode.
Whenever I would alt - tab, the game would be visible in the background, I would see my windows task bar appear but any attempt to open or access other windows would not work the content of the windows was ovelayed by the game

The only way I could figure out to shut down the game without the need to reboot when in this state was:
1) Hit the windows button.
2) Type :
taskkill /im rainbowsix.exe /f
ENTER

Thanks

Here we are with Season 3 soon to be rolling out and still I'm having this problem. I've had it since they rolled out Operation Health too. I can't play in neither Borderless or Windowed without alt+tabbing or clicking out of screen. It will just freeze my PC completely and the only way to fix it is to either restart my PC or put it in sleep mode for a quick second just to get back in the game. I've sent many messages to Ubisoft tech support with them telling me to reinstall, turn off shadowplay, and literally everything else with no solution. So good luck everyone else.

I have a work around if you're using two monitors, I had the issue occur and I couldn't get to my task manager because it would pop up under the game. I was able to alt tab to the task manager to make it the selected window, (screen didn't change) then I hit WindowsKey+Shift+Right/Left arrow to more the task manager to the monitor the game wasn't on. From there task manager was able to kill it.

This still a problem only with rainbow six siege.

Spec: AMD Six Core 6300 FX 3.50 Ghz.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB.
10 GB Ram.
More than 600 gb free disk space.

Also game runs at more than 100 fps in high settings.
