Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year
Survival: Endless records
My personal best is 25 flags. What's yours?

After I set that record I was thinking of a strategy that might let me get further than 25, I'll have to try it.

EDIT: I was right! I tried out my new strategy and got 31 flags completed before being overwhelmed by a veritable armada of Zombonis.

Well, I tried out your strategy, and it was easier to set up than I thought it was going to be, I got it done by wave 13.

I haven't yet planted spike-rocks in place of the sunflowers in front of the cob cannons on the lawn, but will after I accumulate enough stockpiled sun to be comfortable. Alternately, I'm considering placing another couple of gloom-shrooms in the topmost and bottommost rows, in front of the cob cannons, to make up for the lack of damage in those rows.

Aren't the plants in the pool vulnerable to bungees?
Nope, they're all good. The cob cannons are never targeted by bungees (they're too big), the two cattails are covered by umbrella leaves, and both magnets are within range of least two gloomshrooms, which are enough to kill a bungee zombie before it can make off with them.

(And of course if they try to take a pool gloomshroom, they're either instakilled by 3-5 glooms or from a random cob nuke ;)

I was thinking you could replace the back two gloom-shrooms with umbrella leaves
Can't replace the back glooms, unfortunately. They do an unexpectedly large amount of work each round killing miner zombies quickly, as well as all the imps thrown by the ogres. Everything's covered by the umbrella leaves in the corners there anyway, so there's no need for more of those.

As far as the spike rocks are concerned: the zombies usually don't make it that far anyway; they're mostly there as an emergency countermeasure, in case an ogre or zomboni gets too close to a cob cannon. Whatever sun I don't use towards replacing pumpkins usually goes towards building and upgrading those.

No, I meant the back two of the 6 in the pool, not the two in the lawn rows near the very back. I was thinking that bungee zombies could steal the gloom-shrooms or magnet-shrooms; I should've realized that they'd be slaughtered by the gloom-shrooms before they could abscond with one.

I'm thinking that if the zombies normally don't make it as far as the spike-rocks, and you still have a couple of rows of lawn - why not plant the spike-rocks up another row; er, column, that is; move up the spike-rocks a column, and plant some more sunflowers there, to help out with pumpkin replacement or emergency repairs?

I certainly could try it, but it doesn't leave much room for error once things start getting really crazy. Around stage 55+ you start to get almost non-stop waves of zombonis and gargantuans (and other, faster zombies) that will close in immediately. Their numbers/density grow every level, to the point where if they touch a plant for more than a second it's basically gone.

Nevertheless, I have lots of sun banked on my Endless save right now, so I'll definitely try it. Gotta have fast fingers with those cob cannons though!
Wow, Sir Ninja, that's a beast.
I must try that when I get all the other stuff
I remember something like 300 or 400 flags until I got bored, but I had a fun setup that was based on the top half being a 10 cob setup (obviously only 5 cobs there because it was half of a ten cob setup) and the bottom half being a two cob stall setup, because the top half is supposed to deal with zombies instantly, and the bottom half is supposed to go really slow and rely on splash damage, so they messed with each other and it was quite fun ;).

I find that incredibly unlikely. :closetgamer:

I'm calling hacks on that video. That's a ludicrous set-up, with terrible plant synergies, an over-reliance on one-off plants with long cooldowns, and no protection against zombonis.

There, those three videos look more more plausible.
for the most part all you really need is 10 cobs. fire them at row 2 and 5 per 3 seconds and you should have infinite nuke. remember to nuke the row 3 or 4 at the last wave, the one right before you get to choose your plants again. this shouln't really bother your nuke cycle since you'd get a downtime of 3 seconds at the start of a wave. or if you let some zombies survive before the start of the next wave for more downtime.

for the backstabber zombies, use ice shroom on bungees, have 2 glooms for the diggers. I find 3 twinsunflowers to be enough as maintenance.

edit: there's a screenshot I saw which had a 12 cob build and almost nothing else. not even glooms at the pool area (row 3 and 4).
