3D Hardware Acceleration Not Supported

I try turning on 3D Acceleration and it says this:

Not Supported
Hardware Acceleration cannot be enabled on this computer.
Your video card does not meet the minimum requirements for this game.

Is there any benefits to turning this on, and how would I get it to turn on?

Did you try to follow the step by step that I reported before trying to modify the values in regedit?

EDIT: My bad! The Is3D key does not really exist in PVZ (only in bejeweled 3). You only need to Change the values of the ScreenMode and WaitForVSync keys from 0 to 1.

Its still works in 2020 or almost 2021, Beside that thanks man my pc is pretty good here i'm confused why the 3d its not working lol (Rx 560 2 gb)

Hey, guys! Here is the solution (it worked for me):

1. Download the latest version of WineD3D from here[adolfintel.com].

2. Unpack the following 3 files from the archive into the game's installation directory
- ddraw.dll
- libwine.dll
- wined3d.dll

3. Copy those 3 files (ddraw.dll, libwine.dll, wined3d.dll) to C:\ProgramData\PopCap Games\PlantsVsZombies (this is the place where popcapgame1.exe is created when the game is running) and now you can enable 3D Acceleration.

OBS.: In fullscreen mode, the graphics are not stretched anymore but it has black bars on left and right sides, because this game does not support widescreen.


4. ENJOY!

I can't too, but after I changed to a new monitor, using HDMI interface not VGA, it worked, to which maybe related.

This fix still works, but the video quality in full screen mode is very poor. Most people will be better off changing their desktop resolution temporarily to something like 1200X768 and let the monitor do the scaling.

Using the 1.7.52 version did not work for me (got a white screen). Also it is not needed to set Screenmode to 1, only if you want to play in fullscreen.
