Linux build has massive tearing issues

I love this game and play it frequently on my windows desktop and android phone. I just installed the Linux version on my Chromebook with ubuntu and it has really bad tearing. It is so bad it hurts your ability to see when things get hectic. I alos tried it on my desktop via linux usb witht the same result. My CB should handle it just fine, there is clearly an issue.

I have the same issue with an NVIDIA 1080 TI ... vsync enable (with a gsync screen ...), can't use gsync with this game and can't disable vsync ...
