Greetings, Spellweavers,

Version 0.6.34-demo is now live! This update adds more interactive elements to the dungeons with explosive new hazards, optional challenges for extra rewards, and another round of visual and performance enhancements.

New Content & Features

Exploding Barrels:
- Volatile barrels can now be found throughout the dungeons, opening up new tactical avenues and playstyles! These containers are highly unstable and will detonate when damaged.
- In the early stages of a run, these barrels offer a powerful advantage. A well-placed shot can clear a room of weaker foes when your spell arsenal is still limited, providing a much-needed burst of resources.
- Later on, they become strategic tools for advanced play. Lure powerful enemies into a cluster of Thunder Barrels for a stunning chain reaction, use a Wormhole Barrel to reposition a dangerous boss, or shatter Ice Barrels to control the battlefield. Their effects can be combined with your own spells for devastating results.
- Destroy them from a safe distance to claim the loot inside, but be careful-they are extremely dangerous and can end a promising run if you're not cautious!
Secret Challenge Rooms:
- After clearing a room, you may discover a secret entrance to a special challenge room.
- Test your skills in three different challenges: Gold Rush, Minefield, and Dummy Target Practice!
- Succeed in these challenges to escape with valuable goodies!

Visual & Performance Updates

Improved Sprite Effects:
- Many sprite effects have been updated for better visual feedback and aesthetics.
Performance Enhancements:
- Further optimizations have been implemented to improve overall game performance.

Confusing AF

I've been gaming for longer than most people on Steam have been alive, but can't make any sense out of the instructions because the game uses a bunch of terms that it doesn't define. I need an aspect to do anything, but no aspect is in your inventory (unless I missed that one)...where do you get this? What's prima? What's secunda? Most games just have mana....what's the difference? I didn't notice either of these noted on any of the spells, so how is anyone supposed to know which one use which? Ho...

Version 0.6.27-demo is now live! This patch introduces a much-requested tutorial to help new players learn the art of spellweaving, a new enemy to keep you on your toes, and some important quality-of-life updates.

New Content & Features

Dedicated Tutorial:

A comprehensive tutorial has been added to guide you through the basics of spellcrafting and dungeon delving.

New Enemy:

The Repoman: A new threat now roams the dungeons. Be on your guard!

Visual & Quality of Life Updates

Dungeon Brightness Slider:

By popular demand, a brightness slider has been added to the options menu, allowing you to adjust the dungeon's lighting to your preference.

Bug Fixes:

Various other visual bugs and issues have been addressed.

Spellloom - 0.6.20 - The Rebirth Update

Hey Spellweavers,

Version 0.6.20 is now live! This is a big one. I'm introducing a huge new meta-progression system that will change the way you play and grow, plus a complete re-tuning of the game's difficulty to go with it.

New Features:

The Rebirth Cycle & The Aetherium

I've added a brand new end-game loop. After defeating the boss of every third level, you can now choose to undergo Rebirth.

- The Harvest: At the end of a 3 level cycle, your temporary power - things like items, perks, coins, and tether - gets harvested and converted into a new permanent currency called Aether Shards.

- The Aetherium Sanctum: After the harvest, you'll be transported to the Aetherium, a new hub area between runs. Here, you can spend your Aether Shards on powerful, permanent, account-wide upgrades.

- Legacy Aspect: Before you begin the harvest, you can offer one Aspect to the portal. This Legacy Aspect will carry over into your next cycle, letting you keep a core piece of your favorite build.

Permanent Aetherium Upgrades

The Aetherium is home to pillars of power broken down into three categories: Vitality, Fortune, and Legacy. You can spend your Aether Shards here on over a dozen new permanent upgrades, including:

- Vitality Upgrades: Permanently increase your character's starting Health, Mana, Mana Regen, and Tether for all future runs.

- Fortune Upgrades: Permanently increase your luck. You can boost the chances of finding chests and reward pillars, and even unlock the ability to get more choices from those pillars when they appear.

- Legacy Upgrades: Change the rules of Rebirth itself. Buy upgrades to keep more of your bonus stats between cycles, or unlock the Armory Chest - a special reward in the Sanctum that grants you a free, random Legendary Aspect at the start of each new cycle.

Balance Changes

- Difficulty Scaling Rework: I've completely re-balanced enemy health, damage, and spell levels to fit the new 3-level cycle system. This should provide a smoother difficulty curve inside each cycle, with a noticeable jump in challenge when you start a new one.

- Player Power Curve: The power curve within a single 3-level run has been accelerated. You'll find yourself getting stronger faster, leading to some really explosive builds by the end of a cycle.

Bugfixes & QOL Fixes

- Fixed several crashes and bugs related to extreme stat scaling at high levels.

- Plus, a bunch of other small bugfixes and quality-of-life improvements.

I'm really excited about the new Rebirth system and the long-term goals it adds to the game. I can't wait to see the crazy builds you all come up with now that you can harness the power of the Aetherium.

Bug with generating maps
