Longer Cables for the Headset?

Can you use a 10 or 20 foot HDMI and USB cable to extend the cable going to your headset or will it create lag? Now this is from the computer to the box not the box to the headset.

As for HDMI there is no problem whatsoever, USB might be bigger problem as far as I've read. 5 m would be max desireble length because of signal degradation(not latency). Any longer than 5 m you'd have to use something called "USB repeater extender".

Just want to say, i am pretty sure the Link Box is a repeater, so if you maybe connect the cables to there with 5, then 5 more to the Vive.. it may work?

Yes that might work I think, but I'm not 100% sure.

So for those of us in the states the USB cable should not be more than 16 ft. High performance cables would not hurt either.

I used a 35 ft Active HDMI cable and a 35 ft USB over cat 6. no lag, everything works great

I tried making an extension cable and didn't have much luck. I had a lot of artifacts in the headset. Other seems to have had success though so maybe I just got a bad cable.

When you say extension cable what do you mean? The more connectors you have on the cable to larger chance for degraded single.

I simply tried using extension cables. Male to female. I think I was trying to add an additional 10 feet, but it was awhile ago.
