Mirroring Vive on a Television in a different room from PC
I have a Geforce GTX 1080 and it only has 1 HDMI out and 4 Displayports. As you know the Vive requires one HDMI, and my television in my living room only takes HDMI. Now, I ran a very long HDMI cable to a different room in my house where I will use the Vive because I want to use the computer I already have but don't want to move it. I also ran a USB cable. I don't predict any problems with that. However, I would like to mirror what the Vive visor is showing and what the player is hearing on my television in the living room. I tried using a displayport to HDMI converter and a very long active HDMI cable, but I'm getting glitches and flickering. Do any of you know how I could mirror everything onto my television in the living room without affecting the performance of the Vive? Any help would be appreciated.

hmm yes, steamlink could work, and would still be cheaper then the price for a very long hdmi cable these days, i might try this one of these days, i was about to move my steamlink to another tv anyway

Thanks for your quick reply guys. But from what I have been reading, the steam link performance is terrible with the Vive. People say that it's super laggy and unusable. So I don't think that would work. It seems odd to me that replicating the experience on a tv wouldn't have been something that the developers would have considered to be important. I can't believe there's no solution to this.

You could also buy an HDMI splitter, but i cant tell u anything about the performance with vr while using 2 hdmi connections from one source

I've considered the HDMI splitter, but I wonder if it would also affect the performance.

Has anyone tried streaming to a television with google's latest version of the Chromecast - the Chromecast Ultra?

I ran my HDMI from the computer 35 feet to where I have the Vive setup. I used a display x HDMI adapter from the computer to my Marantz receiver. From there I have a 65ft Active HDMI goint to the Sony 4K HDTV. everything works fine.

You can actually use a DisplayPort to mini DisplayPort cable to go from the computer to the Vive breakout box and leave the HDMI for the TV. I think most people aren't aware of this.

Just recently I read about someone using it with no problems. I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing myself. I also have the same situation wrt my video card/TV.
