Death Animations & Backend Power-Ups! | July Monthly Update ⚔️

Hey everyone!

July has been a slow month visually, but we've done some work from flashy new enemy animations to important behind-the-scenes work, here’s what we’ve been up to:

💀 Enemy Death Animations

One of the most satisfying parts of any action game is taking down enemies, and now it feels even better. We’ve added a brand-new death animation that gives combat more weight and visual feedback. Instead of enemies just disappearing, you’ll see a cool new animation!

We believe these little touches go a long way in making the world feel alive (and your victories feel earned).

🛠 Backend Work for Abilities & Camera

Behind the scenes, we’ve been putting in a lot of work to prepare for better ability systems and improved camera control. While these aren’t flashy changes yet, they lay the groundwork for more complex combat mechanics and smoother gameplay in the future.

Some of what we’ve been tackling:
✔ Streamlining how abilities are managed under the hood
✔ Updating camera handling to make it feel more responsive and adaptable
✔ Testing performance optimizations to keep everything running smoothly

Multiplayer Updates And Better Camera

🌐 Multiplayer Progress & Camera Upgrades! | June Monthly Update 🎥

Hey everyone!

We’re back with another dev update as part of our ongoing monthly series, and June has been all about smoothing things out — both literally and behind the scenes. From camera controls to online gameplay, we’ve been hard at work polishing the experience and setting up for the future.

Let’s get into it!

🎮 Smooth Camera Update

We’ve implemented a new camera system based on mouse movement, giving the game a more dynamic and fluid feel. Whether you're dodging through combat or just exploring the map, the improved camera adds a layer of responsiveness that helps gameplay feel tighter and more immersive.

This is one of those changes that may seem subtle at first — but trust us, they are very impactful.

🌐 Networking & Multiplayer: Under the Hood

One of our core goals has always been full online co-op, and we’ve spent this month squashing bugs, improving sync stability, and laying the groundwork for smooth multiplayer experiences across the board. From player movement to enemy interactions, everything is being tested and refined to make sure online play feels just as responsive as local.

We want to reassure everyone: our game will fully support online multiplayer co-op. No workarounds, no hacks — just plug in, team up, and go.

🔍 We're even in early talks about optional PvP modes if there's enough interest from the community. It’s still just an idea, but we’re excited by the possibilities if the game continues to grow.

🧪 Behind-the-Scenes Testing

Much of June has been focused on debugging and iterating. While these updates might not always be flashy, they’re essential to our goal of delivering a stable, seamless multiplayer experience. We’ve been:

Fixing edge-case desyncs
Improving object authority & replication
Optimizing server performance for smooth co-op runs

Event Attending And Monthly Update

🌊 We're Going to XP Game Summit + Blue Ocean Challenge! | May Monthly Update 🌿

Hey everyone!

Big news, we’re thrilled to announce that our team will be attending the XP Game Summit to showcase our game to industry professionals, publishers, and fellow developers! This is a huge opportunity for us to get the game in front of more people and potentially secure a publisher to help bring our vision to life.

On top of that, we’ve submitted our game to the Blue Ocean Challenge, a competition that highlights creative, innovative indie titles. If you’ve been enjoying the journey with us so far, we’d love your support, every bit of visibility helps us push this project even further.

🔄 Introducing Monthly Updates!
We want to stay more connected with all of you, so we’re starting monthly dev updates to share what’s new, what we’re working on, and where the game is headed. Here's what’s been going on in May:

🧰 Event Prep & Gameplay Improvements
A lot of this month has been focused on preparing for XP and Blue Ocean, but we’ve still managed to make solid progress on the game itself. Here’s a quick look at what’s new:

🌿 New Hedges: We’ve replaced the old bush walls with brand-new hedge assets that feel more polished and visually readable in gameplay.

💥 Damage Number Overhaul (WIP): We’re redesigning how damage numbers appear, making them feel more interactive while reducing screen clutter. It’s still a work in progress, but already feeling like a step up. We hope to show you the final product soon!

🛍️ Future System Planning: We’ve been deep in discussions about core systems for the future of the game, including currency, shops, and permanent character upgrades to add depth and replayability.
