Unlocking characters?

How do I unlock the other characters?

And what are the other things with the question marks below the levels on the level/character select screen?

I've only just beaten the game but did not unlock any characters during the game....

They're unlocked through the achievements.

And the ??? are probably the afterparty party maps. They're more challenging than the story party maps.

Well I've got half the achievements and I haven't unlocked any :(

I have gotten a 20x combo on the boat (24x using a smokebomb), did not unock the character or get the achieve. I have also escaped from the police 4 times, did not get the achieve or unlock the character.
Something is wrong with the achievements in this game, and that is really bad as it blocks content.

If it will not unlock when you try it in that map, then it really is bugged.

Luckily my last two achievements (dying 100x and starting the game 100x) got finished this week. 100% now. And done before the workshop got installed. The game had less bugs back then xD

Btw, escaping the cops is 5x and not 4x.
Easiest done on the disco map with the SWAT. Good large map.

Okay you should unlock the cop character once you beat the base game.
The chainsaw guy is unlocked when you kill 20 people in a roll.
The ninja is unlocked when you beat a level without anyone seeing a body or calling the police (I believe).
And Katie... well I have yet to unlock her so I'm not entirely sure

there is a guide that tells you how to unlock every single one. if you follow it closely you should not have any issues.

Thank you but unfortunately this post is old and I don't have alot of time to play games in general so I've moved on lol :(

Did they fix the ability to get achievements through workshop levels in the latest patch? I tried the "ninja achieve" level but it was broken so I made my own. One guy in a level, killed him from behind and no achievement.

I wish I knew. I played the game for 5 minutes the other day and thats the only time I've played it for months :(

So workshop maps work for achievements? Makes them quite useless.
On above posted map with the 100 ppl, one would unlocked several achievements.

Hellhound, Runner, Shadow Master, Ninja.

yeah I got hellhound on a workshop map but the others i unlocked in main game
