STAR WARS™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga

STAR WARS™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga

Color issue:No fix yet
I have tried the patch, multiple online fixes, and everything I can think of yet for some reason this is all I ever get http://imgur.com/a/0lDCi Its usually full purple with green lines running through it, making it impossible to read or see anything. If anyone knows the fix please help a brother out.

I found this guide, based on your post description, I assume you have already tried it, but I thought I would check.

Thanks for the link but yes I have already tried. Currently the game is unplayable, and it seemed to have no effect

Have you tried running the EXE in compatibility mode? I would try Windows 7(assuming you are in 10), or XP if possible
I use a computer that runs in windows 7 already

Hi same problem, no fix or trick works. I also tried this fix ( updated 2 hours ago :2015coal:) + other 5 different fixes downloaded from heavengames and no one works. Even create a .bat file and I had created three different.
The compatibility options as well not exist. I think the only solution is to wait for this mod coming out December 16.

I'm hoping the Expanding Fronts mod will work too. I also have tried multiple fixes, patches, anything I could think of, and nothing works.
We can pray

Hi Vlad, win 7 64 or 32?
Did you try fixing the registry, that worked for me.
Fix for 32bit:

Win 7 64bit
I entered so many fixes and patches that the values are already set as you indicated and does not work.
Thrawn Dec 16, 2016 @ 6:41am
Hi Comric,

Are your values in \ W o w 6 4 3 2 N o d e \ the same as my posted ones?

Did you ever try install directx 9 new?
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Then, do check the executable names with my posted reg fixes:
" N a m e " = " B a t t l e g r o u n d s . e x e "
" N a m e " = " b a t t l e g r o u n d s _ x 1 . e x e "

Also post your graphic card maker and model please.

Yep the values are the ones you posted and yes its not a directx problem or wrong names.
The graphic card is XFX RX 480.
I have to see if it can be a problem from hdmi cable in a thread there are those who say it can be to.

Hi Comric;
This is indeed most strange, I do run a win 7 ulti x64 on an intel 3770k cpu with a z77 chip, powered by a 980ti and 16gb ddr3 ram in a most rare hdd with ssd cach combination (intel rapid storage) and I get all games to run... excluding the dvd version of sudeki...

What your problem, probably boils down to, even after all fixes and edits... is I guess the crimson driver... only a guess on my side, but last I heard was that amd does not do any fixes for direct x9 and prior based software anymore... again only what I heard and is probably not true at all.

But, sure amd has in its new crimson control center, profiles for games, sure the same as nvidia (I don't know, haven't touched an amd card since amd swallowed ATi), MY BIGGEST bet is, that there is the key.
Are there any options to set game specific quality settings? Like nvidia calls it (global settings / per title) and (quality / let software decide / performance), each of those settings opening up a plethora of new settings.

Also I stumbled upon this here, a thread about someone having similar problems with an r480.
https://community.amd.com/thread/204727

So what kind of graphic card does Vlad have? That would be interesting, since he has the same problems as you.

So to sum it up, I think the crimson drivers are the culprit here, no kind of .exe and patch as well as registry fix has helped you yet, since ultimatively all settings are ALWAYS overwritten by the driver on the fly, regardless what the OS says. Thats why it runs, but is miscolored.

Have you tried renaming the battlegrounds_x1.exe to something like bx1.exe and adapting that one corresponing registry value to " N a m e " = " b x 1 . e x e " in the syswow6432 path?
THAT would be super interestring, but could be, that the crimson drivers create a new profile for this on the fly, resulting in the same output. I know nvidia does it that way.

Sorry to be not very much help here.
Only other idea I have is, if you could swap your current r480 with another card for testing purposes. Just to see if a different model (preferably older) or completely different maker suddenly makes it work correctly. I know, much hassle for an old game.

No thanks to your support Thrawn, so I could try other methods of solution in the regedit.
I also think it's the fault of Crimson, in fact it is very young as technology and certainly still needs updates, I leave below a "vademecum" of what I made in vain to solve this problem :
  • verify of cache game
  • uninstall and reinstall game
  • verify and update Directx
  • change HDMI cable with DVI
  • apply the patch which is located in the Steam section guides
  • apply 2 different fix for only screen resolution
  • apply 5 different color fix that are on Heavengames
  • create 3 different .bat file
  • install various version of EF mod
  • control regedit values
  • try compatibility options
  • change in bx1.exe
  • try the different video options of Crimson (...and Catalyst explanation below)
  • excluding various hardware problems
  • excluding various software problems (example antivirus, etc.)
Its only recently that I changed the video card and renewed the pc but the result is not changed. Unfortunately I can't express opinions on Geforce video card.
Tested on:
old AMD pc + Radeon HD 6870
old AMD pc + Radeon RX 480
new AMD pc + Radeon HD 6870
new AMD pc + Radeon RX 480

Video options of Crimson:
  • antialiasing level
  • antialiasing filter
  • antialiasing method
  • morphological filtering
  • anisotropic filtering level
  • quality texture filtering
  • optimization of surface size
  • wait for vertical refresh
  • triple buffering OpenGL
  • Shader cache
  • maximum level of tessellation
  • frame rate target control
I hope this post can serve and tnx again.

Hi Comric;
Ok, you have done everything, I would have done too, in almost the exact same order...
and nothing has resulted in success.

You mention a HD6870, do you still have it?
Have you tried it with the catalyst software?

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows%207%20-%2064

Catalyst 15.7.1 should be the last for the hd6xxx series.
(In my honest opinion, the amd driver selection page is garbage.)

Maybe some older driver can help too, found the archive:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy/previous?product=legacy3&os=Windows%207%20-%2064

My last ATi card was a x850xt pe, that was a golden one and it still works but my last catalyst version was the 9.7 something so I'm not very introduced to amd's catalyst version.

So in essence, for testing, I would take the old pc, uninstall any crimson and catalyst software, reboot cleanly, install the catalyst 14.4 and test, if no success, repeat and try 14.9, if still no success, repeat with 15.7.1.

Here are some more thoughts of mine:
Do you run any kind of graphics enhancement software like ENB, sweetfx or the likes?
Do you use any kind of overclocking software like afterburner or the likes?
Do you use remote desktoping software? Like remote desktop itself or teamviewer?
Do you use FRAPS or any kind of overlaying software?
Does any of this run in the background all the time?

Infact, when I use remote desktop with nvidia gamestream on battlegrounds, I receive a gray and black picture on the shield tablet, only on this game!!!

Do you have any easily reachable friends or colleagues which you could ask, to borrow you an old nvidia card? Anything from a geforce 6000 up to now has a working win 7 x64 driver.

Only a lot of suggestions on my side. :(

Yes and Yes, keep in mind that my pc is custom, if it breaks a piece I replace it if this does not imply having to renew all (example: broken motherboard).
I bought the game when I was still the old video card and I bought the new one recently so I could try various catalyst (like the ones that you mentioned) and also the "false" Crimson for older cards that ATI had released when it left the 400 series.

Impossible the fate decided, I broke the old motherboard and CPU two days after I bought the new video card :P

anyway tnx
