  1. Run swgb-all-in-one-patch.exe;
  2. Select Steam version in the dropdown;
  3. Choose folder where the Steam games are located. Full path must be like this:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga
  4. Follow the instructions and complete installation;
  5. Start Launcher to enable custom resolution;
  6. Play Game!
  • Q: I get an error during installation that says: 'An error has occurred when trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied.' or 'Error creating registry key: -//- RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5. Access is denied.'
  • A: Reboot your PC, then start installation again.

  • Q: I get an error during patching to widescreen: 'Didn't find interfac.drs reference at expected location. Wrong exe.'
  • A: You have a multiple monitor system, so patch may work not correctly. You need to deactivate the second monitor and run patch on the primary monitor, i.e. monitor you want to play the game on. After patching process will be done, you can activate back the second monitor.

  • Q: Nothing happens when I start the game, i.e. it crashes immediately.
  • Q: When I run widescreen patch the window command gets full of red messages.
  • A: You need to install/update '.NET Framework 3.5'. On Windows 7 and later this component installs automatically, but if this didn't happen, follow the steps:

    1. Press 'Windows Logo' + 'R' keys on the keyboard.
    2. Type 'appwiz.cpl' in the 'Run' command box and press 'ENTER'.
    3. In the 'Programs and Features' window, click on the link 'Turn Windows features on or off'.
    4. Check if the '.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)' option is available in it.
    5. If yes, then enable it and then click on 'OK'.
    6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and restart the computer, if prompted.

  • Q: When I launch the game I get an error : '0xc0000022'.
  • A: You need to do the same steps as in previous Q&A, but instead of step 4 you need to check 'DirectPlay' under 'Legacy Components'.

  • Q: The game crashes when I am using 'System Memory' option during installation.
  • A: This option is unchecked by default specially because it works not on every computer.

  • Q: When I am playing vanilla game or patched, the gameplay stops/freezes, but music still continues to play. It stays like this for about 10-20 seconds then it returns to normal. It happens very often.
  • A: The game is 15 years old, so it may not work properly on all systems. I know about this problem, I read about it on GOG forums, and one of my friends has it. But I cannot explain why this happens, searching in Google gave nothing. Sorry, I cannot help you...

  • Q: I've installed the patch and I can't access taunts or commands.
  • A: Look at the minimap, there's a PLUS SIGN (+). Click it and everything should be returned. The Taunts/Commands were simply minimized as an option to simplify the game, particularly for players that aren't that picky when it comes to unit commands.

     Before you write a comment, please understand that the patch doesn't work for everyone. Galactic Battlegrounds is an old game, so the patch doesn't solve all of the game's issues. The description contains all of the patch's features. Only these features are included and should work perfectly for most users. If a feature doesn't work it is on your end. If you have issues with the patch you should uninstall it. Lastly, all comments that are not related to the patch will be deleted.

Nevermind. Flipping to the largest in-game resolution seems to have reset it. Loving this so far! Good work.

So, I just got this and I love the idea of playing this game in widescreen resolution. I just ran into a bit of a bug though. I started a single player skirmish game and realized that I'd turned the music off before starting. I went to the options and turned it back on, but when I closed the menu my game reverted back to it's non-widescreen resolution. Is this a known issue and is there any workaround or way to get the resolution reset without resetting the whole game?

Thanks in advance.

1280x1024 option is greyed because you resolution is lower than 1024 vertically, i.e. 900 < 1024. This is how the game works.

alright so the patch works perfect on my desktop with a 1080p monitor but i need some help with my laptop. so the game launches fine, plays fine etc. etc. but i have a problem with it switching my resolution back and i can't put it back

my laptop's resolution is 1600x900. when i enter the resolution manually and go right into a game (WITHOUT changing options) it is 1600x900 and works fine. but as soon as i change an option it reverts to the next highest resolution, 1024x768. and since my laptops highest base resolution is 1600x900 the 1280x1024 option is greyed out so i can't revert my game back to 1600x900 because it is tied to that last resolution option.

any tips to help me? can i somehow bind my manually set resolution to 1024x768 instead? or do i just need to set my options, close my game, re launch it, and just never touch the options menu while i'm playing? this seems like what i will have to do but still wanted to ask.

Thank you for your comment. I have updated the patch and added 'Manual Mode' to the widescreen option where you can apply custom resolution you want.

I can't rate this because I own the GoG version... So I'll have to thank you with a comment.
Thank you. This patch deserves every thumbs up.

Hi I just want to thank you so much for making this patch! I want to share my experience getting the widescreen patch to work on my system. I have a laptop with a 4K display with a DPI scaling of 250% running Windows 10 Creators Update (1703). When I ran the patch, it mistakenly read my resolution as 1536 x 864, rendering the game non-playable (and my system will crash). Here are the steps I took:

1. Set Windows resolution to 1920 x 1080 and reduce DPI scaling to 100%
2. Run the widescreen patch
3. Restore your resolution and DPI scaling to the previous one (in my case, what I wrote in my 2nd sentence)
4. Navigate to the game dir and right-click on battlegrouds_cc.exe and choose "Properties"
5. Go to "Compatibility", uncheck "Run this program in compability mode for:", "Run in 640 x 480 scren resolution" (you can skip this if they already are. Somehow mine were checked)
6. Check "Override high DPI scaling behavior", and select "Application" in the drop-down menu.
7. Click OK.

Disable antivirus or add patch to whitelist.

Mcafee won't run the patch due to virus risk. Any idea to help?
