This update brings a number of enhancements to Nala's ability kit. These new options allow players more flexibility in combat. (AIR JUGGLING IS REAL NOW)

• Four new melee attacks (Up/Down + attack on the ground, Up/Down + attack in the air)

• Blocking

• Reworking the Air Shield spell

• Dialing back some of the recovery frames on attacks so that players can act sooner

Some of the other updates in 0.4 are:

• Retaining HP across rooms as opposed to auto healing after each room. I was waiting on implementing this until the additional moves and blocking were set up.

• The Restore room type, which will restore players to full health and mana. Restore rooms have been added to the collection of randomly selected room templates.

• The Save room type, which act both as Save points and health/mana restoration points. Save rooms always appear after boss battles. (Saving/loading functionality will be coming later)

• The ability to traverse up to the 3rd floor instead of the demo ending after the 1st floor.

This past week I was attend the Game Developer's Conference as a volunteer. I unexpectedly got the chance to showcase Princess Paladin in the Indie Arcade! Big thanks to Black in Gaming[www.thebigfoundation.org] to letting me exhibit, and for everyone who stopped by. I got a lot of great feedback, and the next few updates for the game will be focused on implementing some of that feedback. The following is a rough outline of what you should see in the next few version updates.

• A few more melee attacks to round of Nala's core kit (the abilities she will have regardless of which magic spells are equipped)

• Guarding

• A pass at better blending 2D characters with the 3D environments. (There will be more passes at this in the future)

• Hit reactions (both for attacking enemies and the player getting attacked)

• Making the player feel more responsive after taking an action (attacking, dashing, etc.)
