Whistling pc noise after alt-tabbing
So if i alt-tab out of the game, a strange whistling noise appears right from the pc, maybe hdd? I never experienced anything like this in my life, definitely not on this rig. Alt-tabbing back into the game cuts the noise instantly.

Sounds like coil whine, which can happen in some rare situations when a GPU is asked to draw something that's too simple and goes nuts cranking out thousands of frames a second. It happens to me when I'm in the Homeworld Remastered main menu and hit 1500+ FPS ( http://i.imgur.com/2kN90ql.jpg ) because they didn't put a framerate cap in.

This isn't an ideal fix but does it go away if you have v-sync enabled in the game?

I always enable vsync in my games. Maybe it doesn't matter if the game is minimized?

Today's patch added framerate settings, try capping it to 60 and it will probably eliminate the coil whine while minimized.

Hey @Blackjack, are you running in Oculus, SteamVR, or 2D mode? If 2D fullscreen or not?

Your best bet is probably to keep VSYNC enabled, that way it will never draw faster than your monitor's refresh rate and you'll avoid the tearing that can happen with the fixed frame rate caps.

When you alt+tab, I'm guessing the window is no longer visible on your screen? The game will still render when its window doesn't have focus, but maybe I can make it so it doesn't draw at all if the window isn't visible or minimized. I'm not 100% that's the cause of your issue, but it's probably the "right" thing to do anyway.

Yeah, like i said, i always enable vsync.
Playing without vr, fullscreen.

Not rendering the scene when the game is minimized seems like a good idea.
