Quests advance time
I am new to this franchise.

It seems certain quests advance time. Isn't that the same as dieing? If so, why would I do them at all? How do I identify those which will advance time and those that don't?

Check the pips above most Uruks doing missions. Each has about 3 pips, which means it takes 3 turns for said Uruks to complete their tasks and let things end on their own without your intervention. This was a something of a problem in the last game as you could end up clearing the ENTIRE field of Uruks without refreshing the board. That made refilling the board and getting new Uruks a time consuming and chaotic mess.

Now, new Uruks will show up, as well as progress things, which makes events in game feel much more natural and organic.

Ok, but don't I want time to not advance since that means orcs will level?
OR is my not intervening making them level too?
Very confusing.

Most of those "quests" (the ones with pips below them) involve one orc fighting another orc, or one orc fighting a caragor or graug. If the orc wins that fight, it will level up. If it loses the fight, it will not.

If you let the quest expire (quest icon turns red with one pip left), you have no control over what happens, so the orc involved in that quest will usually level up.

There are also "friendly" quests involving orcs you've Dominated. If you help your orc complete his quest, they will level up.

Ok, but I am still unclear on whether it would be good for me to actually do the quest or not. If I don't he levels up, but if I do then time passes and several others might level up...

My goal is to keep them from level up as much as possible, no?

Also, if they keep refilling, then what effect does that have on me going after the main orc in the area? Am I supposed to wipe out all his fodder to make the fight easier? Or am I just trying to level up enough to get him?

In my mind, I thought the goal was keep all orcs low level, so I can kill them, then after they are all dead, go after the head orc, but it seems they never die and keep coming back, so I really don't know what my goal is.
