Oh no! Anyway... Oct 13, 2017 @ 10:24am

I tried to destroy one right after my first arrival in Cirith Ungol (because it seemed like a thing to do) but couldn't figure out how. I guess there'll be a quest teaching me about these at some point, but kinda strange I couldn't just destroy it at will. Did I miss something or do I just have to wait for the game to show me how to do it?

Early game I'd focus on the main quest line to open things up. There's a lot that's locked away so I wouldn't be surprised if that's one thing.

for some reason you need to get on the head to destroy it

Yeh I climbed to the top and pressed as many buttons as I could think of - maybe I didn't hold LCTRL down long enough for it to register. I'll try again.

Still no answer to the original question.
Do I get anything, like weakening the fortress or not?

You have to be on the head of the figure, not anywhere else like the shoulder or a spear - even if it's not the very top. Like if it's the Machine monument it's an orc raising a it's hand above its head and you can stand on that bit, but that won't work - it has to be the literal head. It's annoyingly picky like that. You will then be able to press the grab button and Talion will smash his hammer into the head while jumping down and the monument will crumble.

This is what I'm wondering. From what I've seen in game and online I don't think so? It smells to me like a half-baked or cut mechanic tbh.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong though.
