Tips on shelter defense?

depending on the scenario... my advice for SURVIVAL, is to try and and build 3 turrets(tier 4) in
front of the door, that way you don't need to arm them just have the rifle bullets in your inventory; because of the layout you could put a shotgun although i end up putting showers and the toilets under the turrets so i maximize the space usage

i try to let them get in so they're killed to get what the have on them (if my guys kill them) and to harvest them for "desperate meat" which gives you 10 when trading, just like a can of food also you can burn them for extra fuel
